The Daily Events and Anecdotes Thread

Everyone likes to talk about themselves! Do it here so I don't have to read it. Ha ha! Just kidding. I'm actually illiterate.

That sounds neat. Which museum?

Just picked up my folks from the airport this morning.. They've been around Vancouver and Alaska for the past 3 weeks.. I took the rest of the day off, so now I'm constantly hearing about it..

Good news I'm going to see Miike Snow tonight.. this time with friends.. yay friends.. The Splendor show was said to have been epic.. so yeah can't wait.

Miike Snow was pretty awsome you guys. Stage set up was neat too.. had like a 80s spaceship central command vibe about it with this main hub in the middle which had lights all on it and like a beat machine/synth built into it and the jackalope logo on the front.. then there were to side station things.. it was well designed.. the lead was like running all over stage jumping on various instruments on throughout the show..
Also the was so much smoke and strobe. So much.
They played mostly tracks from their new album but finished with a couple favs from the last.
It was a near perfect show, the only thing letting it down was the right speaker stacks where crackling for about 3 songs mid set.. took the sound guys awhile to sort it out.
Also saw Michael Klim there.. one of our retired olympic swimmers.. COINCIDENCE?

Segwaying onto the topic of the Olympics I havent seen any of it.. saw snippets of the opening on the news.. and am temped to watch it just for Mr Bean.

Oh right, the Olympics is on isn't it. What events are in the Summer Olympics again? The only sports I really like watching are tennis, boxing and billiards though. Is billiards an Olympic sport? I haven't seen any good billiards on tv since like 2005, when I had cable at school and got TSN.

I'm not sure, but I would not be surprised if billiards was an Olympic sport. They've got archery and table tennis, so why not? I've been catching snippets of the games here and there, and I surprisingly get into it. I've been digging the women's footballsoccer, various swimming, judo, and gymnastics. USA!USA!USA!USA!

I've been watching at least a bit of the Olympics every night. I like the gymnastics and diving because they're more impressive and different than everything else. But swimming is fun too, because the races can be so close.

I have to say, though, the American commentators are horrible. Truly awful. Every now and then, they'll say something moderately offensive or ignorant regarding the other countries. Like during the parade of nations, when Madagascar's athletes walked by, the only thing they said about the country was it's relation to the children's movie series. And they also ask some pretty rude or personal questions to the athletes sometimes, especially when they don't win.

Oh man I am loving the Olympics. I'm over the swimming though, it's been going for a week. Athletics is much more exciting and varied. Hopefully New Zealand can win three medals tonight, there's some of rowing finals on.

So I went to a friends wedding today. It was pretty special.. Im a wog so ive been to a few weddings and everytime I tear up. I hate it, but at the same time its so amazing that two people you love commit to each other like this. I get more emotional when its friends for some reason.. anyway being a single bloke I stepped up and caught the garter AGAIN. I thought these things were to bring fortune in the relationship department.. this is my second one... Second time lucky?.. So I've been busy as hell working in the very depths of hell. It's hellish what I do now, but I'm loving it. Also, the money's good.

So I'm probably going to come up to Brisbane for a weekend because a couple girls enticed me there. Neither are from Sydney. Both I know from my tour around the states a couple years ago. One, from Melbourne, I see "regularly".. she's an epic football nut and comes up to Sydney when any of her teams play up here. For instance she'll be here in November and December for games, and flying up to Brisbane for the game in October..
The other girl from Brisbane, asked me up. She's nice, but I don't know her that well compared to the other.. she even offered for me to stay at her place.. its a bit odd. But I'm throwing caution to the wind and saying 'fuck it'.

BEN. I think a bro date is in order.

Guys help, I'm having emotions!

Found out today that my most recent ex is back together with the guy she dated previous to me. Now, I can't say I'm bummed about that, since I wouldn't touch that spewing fountain of emotional baggage again if you paid me, but for some reason the revelation has left this rage-knot in my gut.

I think it might be a blow to my ego? Can someone explain why this pisses me off?
I'm not really working on anything at the moment, but here's a link to my tumblr anyway.

Because your subconsciously rationalizing that this guy that she left is better than you in her eyes?

You shouldn't stress out over it because we all know that you're the bestest person ever.

I had the same rage feeling when 6 months after I broke up to my ex, she was ENGAGED to another dude :|
She wanted to move out to the country too. They are now married and live in Marrickville which is a couple suburbs out from the city :|

*sigh*
