Dude, he's announced it. He's running for president (in one state)!

Yay! Do you think he'll go through with it?

I have to quickly move to South Carolina and vote for him.

Actually, if you judge from previous voting things regarding Colbert (like the bridge) it looks he'll definitely be our next president. Never underestimate the power of the Colbert Nation.

From what I gathered (I've seen like, two episodes of his show) I thought he was just a character. Is he not?

He's a real person. He just sort of acts differently on his show. There's Stephen Colbert the person and then Stephen Colbert the character.

Wikipedia wrote:Much of Colbert's personal life is reflected in his character on The Colbert Report. With the extended exposure of the character on the show, he often references his interest in and knowledge of Catholicism, science fiction, and The Lord of the Rings, as well as using real facts to create his character's history. His alternate persona was also raised in South Carolina, is the youngest of 11 siblings, and is married. The actual Colbert's career history in acting and comedy is often downplayed, however.

I heard whole bear thing has to do with his fears of bears as a child.

I'm not sure how this will work. If Colbert is actually diverting votes from serious canidates, even in just one state, then this is fucked up.

If he wins that state it will fuck up the process.

I guess it's messing up the system, but I don't exactly feel bad for any of them.

Today's Wikipedia featured article is about truthiness.

Awfully reverent for a site that's banned him until the end of eternity.

Colbert is a fucking legend.

The US has already blurred the line between entertainers and leaders, (e.g. Arnold and Ventura, along with the extreme attention payed to celebrity political views) but if anything comes of this, it would be a pretty scary commentary on the views of the Unites States populace towards their own government.

The difference is Colbert actually knows a thing or two about politics as is. He's not a action hero or a wrestler; he's a satirist.

But he's stated before that he's a comedian before a politician.

Better 'before one' than 'rather than one', I'm just saying. I don't think he'd make a good president either.

His job, as opposed to wrestling, guarantees he's well informed, and knows how to make fun of people.

...I'm not sure if that makes him more qualified or not. Jesse Ventura, (my one-time govenor) was very unorthodox and rather foolish, but not all of his ideas were without merit.

Colbert being a poltical satirist, but beyond that, being a character, makes any sort of rational appraisal of a candidacy a twisting tube of confusion.
