Sam and Fuzzy Q & A: Fob Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!
"In this comic, is Sam calling somebody on the intercom to be let into the building?" -Greg
I guess I was picturing it as one of those apartments where, in addition to an intercom, there's a keycode pad or keyfob-reader that you use to get into the building. In retrospect, that's probably a little fancy for the kind of building Sam lives in, but... uh, I'm sure there's some kind of elaborate in-universe explanation for it that I can explain in a future flashback ten years from now!
"Does Hazel really think Brain is just, how did Sin put it, a 'standard, ordinary, run-of-the-mill, talking sentient cat'? I'm sure she's been around the Underground long enough to know better." -Alan
Nah! She knows he isn't either a normal housecat or a normal Catopian (ie: the sentient, talking variety). But she still thinks of him as being some kind of cat. Or at least, you know... as someone cat-esque.
I probably shouldn't say any more than that for now!
"I love the current mystery surrounding Brain and Fridge's connection. I'm afraid I am a bit confused though. Was Brain ever a normal cat? Talking cat. Was Brain ever a normal talking cat?!" -Matt
I don't know, was he?!?
(OK, I do know, and you will also know eventually but not yet!)"If the Classic series is not canon, then are Sam's parents canon? What about Fuzzy's "mom"? Was she ever intended to be his actual mom, or just Fuzzy being weird?" -Michael
Oh, the entire Classic series is totally canon! It's only the Christmas of Terror (and Fluffy Bunnies) that isn't. It was drawn three years before the S&F webcomic started.
In other words, don't expect cousin Trevor to show up any time soon. But Sam's parents are Sam's parents. And the Fuzzy's Mom story is... a thing that really happened. (Just not, as it eventually turned out, a visit from his actual mother.)
That's a wrap for this week, team. See you on Monday!
