Ma'am
Well, Figital McDigits DID say he likes surprises. Surprise!
Art alert: There are still a few of my Sketch-Off originals available, if you're interested! You can see the full gallery of pieces (and spot the ones that haven't been scooped up yet) right over here. If you'd like to nab one, just drop me a line. It's a good option if you're looking to nab some of my original art but don't have the budget for a regular commission.
Come back on Wednesday for our next comic! It's about poultry.

Extra Life
Friends! This weekend, my co-conspiritor-in-life Shannon is participating in the Extra Life fundraiser alongside many of her Capcom Vancouver colleagues, raising money for the BC Children's Hospital Foundation.
If I could be uncharacteristically serious down here for a moment, this is a cause that's particularly dear to us right now. In the past few months, two of our closest friends have given birth to premature babies, both of whom recieved tremendous care at BC Children's. The first, born six weeks early, is at home now, happy and healthy. The second, born 8 weeks early with a rare genetic disorder, is sadly no longer with us... but BC Children's worked tirelessly for her and gave her parents some precious time with her that they never would have had otherwise. That meant a lot to them, and to us.
You can read more about both of their stories on the main Capcom Vancouver Extra Life page. And if you're able to chip in for the fundraiser, you can do so here. Any help you can spare would be thoroughly appreciated by both us and the folks at BC Children's. Thank you!
Sam and Fuzzy Q & A: 01 Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!
"It's been bothering me that I don't know how the characters are actually pronouncing the name of Unit 01. Is it Unit Zero One, Unit Oh One, or Unit One? I want to make sure I'm reading it correctly in my head, if the robots have mind reading technology I don't want to anger them by reading their leader's name wrong!" -Matt
You know, until you pointed it out, it never even occurred to me that there would be so many different ways of reading it! I have always heard it as "Unit Oh One" and "Megalopolis Oh One" in my head. I... honestly don't know why, but it's been that way very consistently from the day I named them, so it must be canon.
"Will you be at Vancouver Fan Expo this year?" -Sarah
I will not, unfortunately! I'm taking a bit of a break from cons for these next few months so that I can properly focus on some long-gestating projects. I had a great time doing the con circuit this summer and fall, but it's tricky to do that many shows and keep up with other things... especially when you've got to keep making three comic updates a week as well!
"You always make such a big deal out of Halloween, with the Sketch-Offs and costumes and eveything. Have you ever thought about doing an actual Halloween story in the comic, like the old Christmas specials?" -Max
I liked doing those old Christmas specials, and I bet a Halloween special would be a ton of fun. But I had to stop doing those kinds of longer seasonal stories when Sam and Fuzzy started getting more story-driven. I don't mind pausing our story now and then for a couple of fun side strips -- it's a nice breather for everyone and a chance for me to recharge my batteries -- but a longer seasonal story would be too disruptive, and force people to wait too long to find out what happens next. (Readers have to have a lot of patience as it is, without me making it any harder!)
But, that's one of the reasons I enjoy doing things like the Sketch Offs and the monthly Patreon bonus pieces. It's a chance to do fun little side things with the S&F cast without bringing the main story to a grinding halt.
Ok, friends, that's a wrap for this week. See you on Monday for our next strip!

Halloween Sketch Off Complete!
Thanks for all your great suggestions, team! On Monday, I drew a full 26 drawings of Sam and Fuzzy characters in costumes. That's almost a full "Inktober" in one day!
You can view the full gallery of all 26 pictures by clicking here, or clicking the preview image below. You can also see which original drawings are still available, if you'd like to nab one! At this point, a little over half of them are already gone, but the rest are still up for grabs.
Come back on Friday for more comics. Woo!
