The Rex Years
Our flashback to the days of the first Committee continues today, as fellow founding member Cynthia probes a little deeper into the mystery of Rexford's longevity. Rex's abnormally old age has been mentioned here and there over the years, most substantially in the "Malcolm's Conspiracy Blog" bonus feature in the Missing Inaction book! These flashbacks take place hundreds of years ago, so... y'know... he's been around.
Come back on Wednesday for our next comic!

Sam and Fuzzy Q & A: Jay Talking Edition
Got a question you want answered? Just drop me an email with "Q & A" in the subject line!
"I've been reading Sam and Fuzzy for years, and it's been fun imagining what each character sounds like. As I read Monday's and last Friday's comic, I had an overwhelming feeling that Rexford sounds like James Earl Jones. Please make my week and tell me Rexford sounds like James Earl Jones." -Issac
The first voice that springs into my mind when I think of Rexford is the incomprable Tony Jay! But since he's sadly no longer with us, I'd be up for Jones. Y'know, like, if he was interested. Which I'm sure he would be.
"Dear Sam (Writer) - Will Coroner Candy's Chocolate Corpsies feature in the answer to everything?" -Tripp
Amazingly, I have no big secret plan to loop in a callback to that one. (How very unlike me!) It's meant to be a fragment of a memory from his past life, but it wasn't meant to be anything important... just some random candy wrapper he'd seen. (Everything important, sadly, was cleared out.)
"How similar is the First Committee to the current one, specifically in terms of the groups that make it up? It's clear from several previous instances that seats can change hands pretty suddenly and drastically, and it has been stated that seats can be retired if the need arises. Is the original Committee essentially made of the same groups that currently compose it? Or have there been lots of changes over the years (violent overthrows, changes in ideals/group functions, cyborgs being invented, etc.)?" -Dawson
The current Committee member factions are all direct successors to the original Committee factions! But in some cases, those factions have undergone significant changes over the years. For example, the Cyborg Mafia was formerly the "Ordinary Human Mafia", the Graves Group invested in a variety of business ventures before launching Fig Pig stationery conglomorate Sanpresto, and Squilt's Salmon Co. (the Squids) were originally a criminal organization rather than a giant fast food chain.
These particular factoids, and many other details about the history of each Committee faction, can be found in S&F universe encyclopedia/guidebook contained in The Underground (Available in book or PDF form)!
That's a wrap for this week. See you on Monday, team!
