I'm poking fun at myself a bit here, but I do like to do this, don't I? The S&F archives are littered with pastiche characters. But the philosophy has its own appeal! For one thing, I like how pastiche characters -- like, say, Edwin the vampire -- can evolve into their own distinct thing as time goes on.

That said, sometimes there is definitely a temptation to let the characters talk about... you know... real people and events. As a person who has historically spent way too much time on Twitter, I have been paying equally too much attention to the ongoing chaos of Musk's acquisition. But as far as editorializing in comic form goes... well, I'll probably just stick to my pastiches.
