Bats and Beats
October is the perfect month to dress characters up in costumes, which is a big part of why I like it so much. So here's a pair of costumed pieces with a video game theme.
Cynthia is dressed up as Rouge the Bat from the Sonic series, which means all her bats have to dress up as the non-bat characters. Baker, meanwhile, is decked out as Rush from Mega Man, while Conscience Cat is filling in as Beat. Why make him Beat (the robot bird) instead of Tango (the robot cat)? Because he can fly, of course! It's logic so sound, I've been using it since I drew this nearly two decades ago:
That's right... back then, Butcher had to take the Rush role, since I didn't have any dog characters at the time. Can you imagine? Me with no dog characters? It was a different time.
Anyhow, that's all for today. But see you on Monday, team!

That Inking Feeling
How many of you remember when I used to do "Inktober"?
Once upon a time, I used to draw one original stand-alone inked illustration every day in October. I always had a blast doing it, and drew a lot of drawings that I'm quite fond of. But in recent years, I've always just had too much on my plate to properly participate... which is a shame, because I always found it really creatively refreshing.
So this year, I thought to myself... what if I just allow myself to take a little break from making "regular" comics, so I can make and post at least a couple of updates worth of "inktober" illustrations here instead? After all, I already post the odd illustration here now and then, and I know folks enjoy 'em!
So to kick things off, here are a pair of Zelda-themed pieces featuring Poppy and Dipper. I included photos of the original inked drawings at the bottom there... I added the colouring digitally to match the style of my recent dog comics. The first drawing features Midna riding Dipper, much like she rides wolf Link in Twilight Princess. And the second drawing features Poppy as Zelda, using the copy ability from the recent Echoes of Wisdom game.
Anyhoo, I hope you all enjoy these! Come back on Friday to see what I do next. Woo!

Tongue twister
And so, the frog gets a taste of his own medicine. Or at least a taste of his own back. (Weird.) I had a lot of fun drawing the fantasy world sequence for this little series! I hope you enjoyed it, too.
See you all on Wednesday, team!
