Dreams, dreams



There is a comic that is not misleadingly titled Nothing Nice to Say. But as the old cliche goes, if you can't say something nice, then say it in a way that is really funny and involves drawings and the internet. Besides, reading Mitch Clem's comic will provide you with a useful counterbalance to the extreme optimism and pleasantness that just oozes from every Sam and Fuzzy strip.



Thanks to viewers like you, I now own my very own Sega Saturn. I'm currently knee-deep in NiGHTS, a game that really is as special as everyone says it is. Despite my growing frustration with Sonic Team's seemingly unending string of ports and remakes, I actually would like to see this game re-released on a modern console... if only so more folks could get a chance to play it! But we'll probably be playing Puyo Puyo Fever again on the Playstation 412 before that ever happens.

The world forgetting, by the world forgot



So, how about those Oscars? They sure were... televised. OK, so maybe I didn't actually watch the Academy Awards this year. Believe it or not, I have not seen a single one of the films nominated for Best Picture. Now, I'm certainly not in a good position to judge these films I haven't seen. I'm sure they were all very nice. But was every one of them really better than Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, a movie which was far and away the best I have seen in years? The odds are not ones on which I would bet my life savings.



Words to the wise: buying a used car is tricky business. One minute you are buying an OK car from a person; the next you are now apparently dealing exclusively with their unpleasant spouse, who would like you to agree to a different deal and a different price or else they will sell to a possibly imaginary second buyer. And maybe later this person decides to verbally abuse your mother over the phone, although I think that part is probably optional. I guess what I am saying is that if you are thinking of buying a car, you might actually prefer to eat a sandwich of rusted sheet-metal and thumbtack filling instead.



I am so discouraging today! Don't listen to me, things are not really all that bad. There is plenty to enjoy, like the amusing arrangement of words and colours that is Magical Adventures in Space! Topato understands.

Man, sewing is tricky business. Please leave it to the professionals. Just remember, it's the hospital for the limb and the tailor for the sleeve.



People who ordered shirts during the Communism/Capitalism preorder campaign are already starting to recieve them. Those who have not can expect them to arrive within the two weeks. If you would like to share your branded body with the world, you are more than welcome to post photos of you in your Sam and Fuzzy gear in the forum.



Yesterday, I went along with one of the YES Mag editors to sit on a panel hosted by the professional writing department at the University of Victoria. It was science-fictiony. Ten months ago I would have been in the audience! I was very lucky to land this job at YES Mag, even if it can be a little challenging at times. Man, you try to find a way to come up with interesting visuals for an article about the periodic table. I am a designer, not a miracle worker!
