The phone is red

You may remember the mysterious Carlyle from such comics as this one and these other ones!

It took a few late nights, (or early mornings, depending on how you look at it) but the book is complete. I'm holding the proofs in my hands right now! And boy, does it feel great to see my work like this. I do my best to make my comics look decent online, but ink-on-paper is still the most flattering medium around for line art. I can't wait to get these things into people's hands. They'll be debuting at Comic-con, but I'll be making the leftover copies available to purchase here on the website afterwards. And if there is a massive rush on my stuff at the convention for some bizarre, lucky reason, I promise I will print some more up. Most of my readers do not live in California and I wouldn't want to leave those folks in the lurch.

Subtract my age from the mileage

Today's update comes slightly early, if only to get it out of the way. I'm knee deep in book-related production chores that need to be done much sooner than I'd like to think about. More on Wednesday, when all this is behind me!

I'll do you one better let's skip it altogether

Last chance to order a Can't Dance or Chompy's Family t-shirt! Pressure! Pressure!

Starting with today's comic, I've doubled the image resolution that I work in when designing Sam and Fuzzy comics. I only did this so that the comics would look nicer in future dead-tree print editions, but you know, I think I can even notice the quality improvement in the web res version here on the site. I'm feeling pretty stupid for not working in 1200 DPI for the last 400-plus comics. It really limits how large I can reprint those comics in any future book collections.

But fortunately, size won't be much of a problem for the keen 40-page mini books that I'm whipping up for the comic convention. These suckers are going to gather up a smattering of the most popular, memorable strips and toss in a few pages of original comics for good meassure. They will be available at this year's Comic-con, but I should have plenty left to sell on the website afterwards. Yay!
