Jack is Back
Season 5 of 24 is well underway now that the entire four hour premiere has aired. (I use the word "entire" rather loosely, since my local broadcaster accidently replaced ten minutes of episode 3 with ten minutes of election commercials.)
As a long time fan, I'm happy with it... it might have even been the strongest opener the show has ever had. But on this show, the opening is the part that they always get right. The middles and endings, on the other hand, haven't always been up to snuff. Season 4 went off the rails six episodes in and didn't really recover until the final quarter. There was way too much extraneous time-killing filler in the middle. Bad guys, if your conspiracy isn't convoluted enough to fill 24 whole hours, you are on the wrong program!
The final installment of Whatever Happened to Sam and Fuzzy arrives on Friday. See you then!

As they say on the streets, "I ain't touchin' that one."
I've got to get in on this Batgirl thing! It all started when an artist named Andi Watson posted some revamped-Batgirl concept sketches for a since-cancelled DC Elseworlds project. A few other artists then posted their own Batgirl concepts in their livejournals. I first heard about all this when I saw Josh was doing it. Since then, the number of participating artists has ballooned into the hundreds. You can find a full list of Batgirls here.
It sounded like a lot of fun, and I was already in a Batman-y mood after plowing through the fourth DVD volume of the Animated Series, so I've jumped in. But I don't have a livejournal, so I'm posting my batgirl here. You can view a larger version by clicking the image. The idea is to draw your own take on the character, rather than forcing yourself to stick to the originals. I'm not sure why my "ideal" Batgirl wears dress clothes and carries a sword, but it was the first image that popped into my head!

D'oh!
It's a double feature today... in addition to part 3 of our current storyline, we've got a special bonus guest strip from my Dayfree Press comrades at White Ninja!
"Sam," you say, even though I can't hear you, "Why didn't you run the White Ninja comic last week with all the other guest strips?" That's a good question. I really wish I had a smarter sounding answer than "I saved the file in the wrong directory." Kent and Scott got me their strip in plenty of time for O-GAWD, but because I'm forgetful and disorganized, it never got put into the queue and didn't appear on the website.
Until now, that is! Enjoy the brilliant randomness that no other pair of cartoonists can do better. And to Kent and Scott... sorry for the delay, guys. I'm a bonehead.
We return on Monday with Part Four of Whatever Happened to Sam and Fuzzy. See you then!
